Son of Simone di Marco della Robbia, a member of the Arte della Lana, the wool-workers’ guild in Florence. Noted as a pioneer of Florentine Renaissance style; was the founder of a family studio primarily associated with the production of works in enameled terra-cotta. Comment on works: Sculptor, ceramist
